Sanctuary Northern Rivers Inc. is a volunteer-based community organisation in Northern NSW. Since 2003, we have helped more than 200 people resettle directly from refugee situations overseas, supporting them to find home and belonging in our region.

We believe people fleeing persecution deserve safety, dignity, and a genuine chance to build a stable and hopeful future. We bring together people from all walks of life and backgrounds to make that possible — locally, practically, and person to person.

What we do

We support refugees and former refugees in two main ways: through the Australian Government's Community Refugee Integration and Settlement Program (CRISP), which brings people directly from refugee situations overseas to settle here with community support; and by helping former refugees sponsor close family members to join them in Australia.

Beyond direct settlement, we also work to build understanding of refugee issues in our community and to support former refugees and their families in building an ongoing livelihood here.

Governance

Sanctuary Northern Rivers Inc. is an incorporated association and a registered charity. It has a board of 7 local elected representatives.
